Neil Young zet anti-Bush-cd gratis op internet

Living with War heet de nieuwe cd van Neil Young. Over twee weken moet het schijfje in de winkels liggen, maar Young biedt de protestmuziek nu al gratis op internet aan.

Kritiek
Living with War staat vol met kritiek op president Bush. Young roept zijn luisteraars op om Bush af te zetten en hij ageert tegen de inval en de oorlog in Irak. De 60-jarige zanger heeft daarvoor samples gebruikt uit speeches van Bush.

Streaming
Het album is in twee weken tijd opgenomen en wordt streaming aangeboden via de website van Neil Young. Hij heeft daarvoor gekozen omdat hij de muziek zo snel mogelijk bij de luisteraar wil brengen.

    Ik heb dit album van Neil Young nu een paar dagen geluisterd en ik vind het een erg goed album, alleen het laatste nummer had van mij niet gehoeven.

    Eddie Vedder was interviewd in Rolling Stone and talked about the song:

    Question: Why do you think the musical community has been so quiet recently about the war, about the president? Or maybe you don't think that?

    Vedder: We could talk about Democrats and why they aren't leading an anti-war movement. Are they waiting for a shift in the polls? We could talk about our country in ways outside the war, like why they refused to sign the Kyoto Protocol, in regard to environment. Why aren't we agreeing to strengthen the conventions on biological weapons? Why haven't we signed the ban on landmines? Why haven't we banned the use of napalm? They refuse to be subject to the jurisdictions of the International Criminal Court. They can get away with anything.
